Description A sister to Mutsu developed in Japan. Reported to be blister spot resistant. Fruit has a milder flavor than Mutsu. Tree vigor appears to be similar. Worthy of trial where blister spot has been a problem. Characteristics Bloom: Mid Season Maturity Date: October 4 Fruit Color: Golden Rating (1-9) 9 being the best. Size: 9 Keeping Qualities: 7 Flavor: 7 Resistance to Fire Blight: 6 Resistance to Apple Scab: 6 Pollination Information Shizuka is a triploid and therefore it is pollen sterile. This variety should not be used to pollinate other varieties however it can be pollinated by most other varieties.
